Recruiting on our next project

Buxton Building Contractors Ltd is recruiting for a Recruitment Training & Liaison Officer for the next Leathermarket CBS community-led housing scheme on the Lawson Estate.

The successful applicant will join Buxton Building Contractors Limited on a full time basis with flexible working hours.

The Role

Providing the vital link between the local residents/community and Buxton Building Contractors, the successful applicant will be responsible for monitoring the recruitment and training plan, ensuring we are achieving the plan targets, advising, informing and preparing residents about the nature of the works, attending meetings held by any resident association / organisation, authoring and issuing monthly newsletters, efficiently solving resident compliant if any were to arise, operating a late night drop in service at least once a week for residents, and, representing any resident issues at the monthly site meetings.

Key Criteria

  • Ideally a local resident with existing community networks or the ability to build relationships in the community
  • Offer some flexibility in terms of working hours/scheduling/etc. – but ideally, should be on site at the end of day every day, should be able to attend evening meetings, and should be able to offer drop-in hours for residents both during and outside of regular working hours.

The salary and remuneration package will be dependent on the applicant’s previous experience.

Trainee/Assistant Site Manager:

The successful applicant for this role will join Buxton Building Contractors Limited on a full time basis, and will study part time for an industry recognised qualification. The applicant will be involved at first with the Joseph Lancaster project on the Lawson Estate, and later move onto one or more of Buxton’s building projects (which range from £1m to £15m) working as part of the construction team. They will be released to attend college/university and other activities which are part of the course. As part of the role the trainee will provide support to the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor to enable them to carry out their duties.
